About
Everyone deserves a piece of the American dream, whether it’s buying a new home, leasing commercial space, or simply living, working, or playing in an environment where the American dream is encouraged. The steps taken towards a better lifestyle, and essentially a better future is one that is not taken for granted by the Fifth Ward CRC, located in Houston, Texas.
Fifth Ward CRC, an IRS designated non-profit 501(c) (3) in our 18th year of service, is broadly recognized as a national leader, and is frequently sited as a model for community redevelopment. In 1989, 5th Ward residents, civic leaders, business owners, ministers, and educators established Fifth Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation to breathe new life into the neighborhood. Today, lead by a competent and talented staff and a diverse community board of directors, has become an established leader in the community development arena with a proven record of accomplishments. Fifth Ward CRC is aggressively pursuing activities designed to improve the quality of life for the residents of 5th Ward. Taking a comprehensive approach to community development, Fifth Ward CRC has moved well beyond just building homes and commercial development. With new partners and new ventures, programs like the 5th Ward/HP i-community is helping to bridge the digital divide using technology as an accelerant to achieving comprehensive neighborhood revitalization.
The face of community development is continually evolving. As we position ourselves to be adaptive and productive in an ever-changing environment, it is critical that partners work diligently to share the vision and accept the responsibilities of comprehensive revitalization across the country. We work with others to build and strengthen partnerships and do whatever we can to advocate for conditions, policies, and resources that will be conducive to realizing our missions of affordable housing, community building, and economic and social justice. We are about the business of creating a community of choice for the 5th Ward Community
